샤미소의 시『여인의 사랑과 생애』를 주제로 한 Loewe와 Schumann의 연가곡 비교 연구

Abstract

낭만주의 시대의 독일문학 발달은 음악표현양식과 함께 음악사에 큰 영향을 끼쳤다. 특히, 음악과 시의 결합은 예술가곡이라는 새로운 장르를 탄생 시켰다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 시대 배경 속에서 샤미소의 시 『여인의 사랑과 생애』를 소재로 작곡가 뢰베와 슈만이 작곡한 두 작품을 비교 분석하였다. 샤미소의 시에 곡을 붙인 『여인의 사랑과 생애』는 한 여인의 일생을 그린 것으로 여인이 사랑을 찾고 결혼하며 아기를 출산하고 미망인이 되기까지의 과정을 그려 놓았다. 뢰베와 슈만은 이 시에 서정적인 선율과 함께 선율의 반복이나 같은 리듬에 변형을 주어 곡을 작곡하였다. 이것을 기본으로 반음계적 화성과 감7화음, 속7화음의 사용함으로써 시의 내용을 표현하고 있다. 선율은 간결하고 유사한 리듬의 반복이 자주보이고, 형식의 자유로움 속에 점음표, 셋잇단음표 및 꾸밈음으로 곡의 밝은 부분을 나타내고 있다. 뢰베는 낮은 음율의 선율적 진행으로 곡의 절정을 나타내고 있으며, 반주형태를 긴 트레몰로 사용과 함께 분산적 형태 및 화성적 형태를 반복하여 아름다운 장면을 표현하고자 하였다. 이러한 뢰베의 반주부 형태는 성악선율을 보조하며 방해하지 않고 있다. 슈만은 자신의 연가곡에 있어서 순차적 상행도약으로써 곡의 절정부분을 표현하였고, 곡마다 ritardando를 지시하여 곡의 변화와 함께 시어의 중요성을 표현하였다. 반주부에 전주, 간주 및 후주를 써 넣어 시의 내용을 나타내는 동시에 전체적인 곡에 대한 통합을 이루기도 하였다. 이러한 두 작곡가의 특징으로 미루어 보아 어느 작품이 더 뛰어나다는 결론을 내리는 것은 힘들다. 어느 관점을 기준으로 곡을 비교한다는 것은 참된 비교가 아니기 때문이다. 작품을 있는 그 자체로 받아들임으로써, 작곡가들의 작곡의도를 알고 곡을 이해함으로써 연주자들이 연주할 때 효과적인 연주가 될 수 있도록 하여야 할 것이다.

Development of Germany literature in Romenticism influenced on music history with it's style. Especially a combination of music and poem made new genre call, art song. This study has done comparative analysis in two pieces of work of Loewe and Schumann, both talking about Chamisso's poem, "Frauenliebe und Leben". "Frauenliebe und Leben", a song originally Chamisso's poem, shows a love story in woman's life. Searching for love, getting married, give birth a baby and become finally a widowed wife. Loewe and Schumann gave change to same rhythm with lyrical melody repeating. Based on this rhythm, using chromatic interval, dominant and diminished 7th chords showed it's content. Melody often shows brief and similar rhythm. In the form of unconventionality, it expresses perky parts using dotted, triplet, and grace notes. Loewe used low melodies in tuneful way at the peak part of his song. And he tried to express beautiful parts repeating dispersive and harmonic accompaniment with tremolo. This form of Loewe's accompaniment assists voice melody and does not interrupt. Schumann, on his point of song cycle, he expressed the peak part in sequential upward motion. Also indicated ritardando on each song so that significance of poetic diction can be expressed. Writing down 'prelude', 'bridge', 'postlude' showed significance of poetic diction but also a whole combination of overall song. By the characteristic of both composers, it is hard to tell who is better than the other because comparing on one standard is not genuine. By accepting a song it self, composers understanding the intention of composing, must make songs effective when musicians play.
