제주해녀 출가(出稼) 배경과 정착 과정 연구

Abstract

Research on Haenyeo in Jeju has been steadily conducted so far, and despite the accumulation of efforts and achievements by researchers such as Haenyeo songs and sea disputes, few studies have identified the meaning of Haenyeo in other regions other than Jeju. Therefore, this study conducted to identify the background, route, and community of Haenyeo who left Jeju by applying the research method on the life history of Jeju Haenyeo. In order to conduct this study, the researcher collected data such as related literature, previous studies, newspaper articles, personal data, and interview data. In addition, previous research data were supplemented by analyzing the recorded data of Haenyeo from Jeju who had been moved to Vladivostok, Russia, and the background and route of movement of Haenyeo who left Jeju were added through repeated analysis and interpretation. The validity of the analysis data was enhanced by integrating previous studies, literature, interviews, and transcripts. The results of this study are as follows. First, Jeju Haenyeo did not simply outsource for economic reasons but had the characteristic of continuously expanding the scope of its activities in conjunction with changes in the historical and social environment. Second, Jeju Haenyeo formed an organization in the process of outsourcing, and changes in the work environment and community awareness had a significant impact on the reason for leaving the region and the local decision to work. Third, by interpreting the influence of Jeju Haenyeo on the region after their departure, it was possible to expand the meaning and scope of the use of Jeju Haenyeo culture as a product of combined joint production. Based on the research results, it was confirmed that Jeju Haenyeo's move shared diving skills and lifestyle centered on the community in addition to economic purposes. In addition, it was possible to examine the important nature of Jeju Haenyeo culture by confirming the meaning of social and environmental changes and pioneering work areas, and interpreting the impact on the area where Jeju Haenyeo settled or moved after leaving Jeju. As a result of this study, basic data will be used to form a network among Jeju Haenyeo who left Jeju and to prepare policies to preserve Jeju Haenyeo culture and strengthen the transmission system.|제주 출가(出稼)해녀에 대한 연구는 지금까지 꾸준히 이어졌으며 해녀노래나 입어분쟁 등 연구자들의 노력과 성과가 축적되고 있음에도 불구하고 제주가 아닌 다른 지역의 해녀들에 출가(出稼)의 의미를 확인한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 제주 출가(出稼) 해녀의 생애사 연구 방법을 적용하여 제주 출가(出稼)해녀의 이동 배경과 경로, 그리고 공동체성이 지닌 의미를 확인하고자 하였다. 본 연구를 수행하기 위해 연구자는 관련 문헌과 선행연구, 신문기사, 구술자료, 면담자료 등 기초자료를 수집하였다. 또한 러시아 블라디보스토크로 출가(出稼)했던 제주 출신 해녀의 채록 자료 분석을 통해 선행 연구자료를 보충하고, 반복적인 분석과 해석의 과정을 거쳐 제주 출가(出稼)해녀의 이동 배경과 경로를 추가했다. 분석 자료는 선행연구와 문헌, 인터뷰, 녹취록 등을 통합적으로 사용함으로써 타당성을 높였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 제주해녀는 단순히 경제적 이유로 출가(出稼)한 것이 아니라 역사·사회적 환경 변화와 맞물려 지속적으로 활동 범위를 확장하는 특징을 가졌다. 둘째 제주해녀는 출가(出稼) 과정에서 조직을 구성했으며, 작업환경과 지역 사회 인식 변화는 출가(出稼) 성격 변화와 출가 대상지 결정에 유의미한 영향을 주었다. 셋째 제주해녀들이 출향 후 지역에 미친 영향을 해석하여, 결합된 공동 제작의 산물로 제주해녀문화의 의미와 활용 범위를 확장할 수 있었다. 이상의 연구 결과를 토대로 제주 해녀의 출가가 경제적 목적 외에도 공동체를 중심으로 물질기술과 생활양식을 공유했음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 출가(出稼) 배경이 된 사회 환경적 변화와 작업 영역 개척의 의미를 확인하고, 제주해녀들이 출향 후 지역에 미친 영향을 해석하여, 지리적 근접성을 중심으로 한 지역공동체라는 사회적 자본의 가치를 확인하는 것으로 제주해녀문화의 중요한 본질을 살필 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과는 출가 지역간 네트워크를 형성하고, 제주해녀문화 보존과 전승체계 강화를 위한 정책 마련을 위한 기초자료가 활용될 것이다.
