결혼이민자가정 아동의 심리적 적응에 대한 초등교사의 인식

Abstract

본 연구에서는 결혼이민자가정 아동의 심리적 적응에 대한 초등교사의 인식을 알아보고자 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 결혼이민자가정 아동을 담당하는 교사에게 아동의 학업성취 및 생활적응 문제를 고찰하는 기회를 제공하고 이들의 생활적응과 심리적 적응에 도움을 주기 위한 기초자료 마련에 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위한 연구대상은 제주특별자치도내 초등학교에 재학 중인 결혼이민자가정의 아동 152명의 담당교사로 선정하였다. 2008년 11월 중순부터 2009년 2월 초까지 3개월간 설문조사를 실시하여 수집된 자료 중 97개를 최종 분석하였다. 본 연구의 주요 분석 결과는 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등교사가 인식한 결혼이민자가정의 아동의 학년에 따른 생활적응의 차이에서는 저학년 아동이 고학년 아동에 비해 문제행동을 보이는 비율이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 초등교사가 인식한 결혼이민자가정 아동들 중에서 일부는 문제행동(16.5%)과 학업수행과정에 어려움(30.9%)이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 초등교사가 인식한 결혼이민자가정 아동의 성별에 따른 심리적 적응은 여자아동에 비해 남자아동이 좀 더 어려움을 겪는 비율이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 초등교사가 인식한 결혼이민자가정 아동의 심리적 적응은 저학년 아동에 비해 고학년에서 어려움을 겪는 비율이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 초등교사가 인식한 결혼이민자가정 아동의 심리적 적응 하위영역 간 모든 요인에서 유의한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 결혼이민자가정 아동이 경험 할 수 있는 심리적 적응 문제를 다루고 문제해결방법을 예견 할 수 있는 설명변인을 조사하였다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 결혼이민자가정 아동의 학교생활적응과 이들이 건강한 한국인으로 성장하기 위한 기초 자료에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

The present study aims at examining elementary school teachers' recognition of psychological adaptation in children of inter-ethnic immigrant families. The objective of this study is to provide teachers in charge of children of inter-ethnic immigrant families with an opportunity to look into issues of children's academic achievement and adaptation to school life and prepare basic data in order to help them adjust to their life and adapt themselves psychologically. Research subjects to attain this goal were selected 152 teachers in charge of children of inter-ethnic immigrant families, who attend elementary school in Jeju special self-governing province. The survey was conducted from mid-November, 2008 to the beginning of February, 2009 for 3 months and 97 of collected data were analyzed finally. The statiscal analysis of the data was analyzed by SPSS 12.0 program to estimate the frequencies , mean, t-test, Pearson's co-relation.

The main analysis results of the present study are as follows;

First, for difference recognized by teachers in life adaptation depending on the grade in children of inter-ethnic immigrant families, it appeared that children in the lower grades were at a higher rate than children in the senior classes in showing problematic behaviors.

Second, out of children of inter-ethnic immigrant families perceived by elementary school teachers, it appeared that some had problematic behaviors(16.5%) and had difficulty in achieving the academic performance(30.9%).

Third, for psychological adaptation recognized by elementary school teachers depending on gender of children of inter-ethnic immigrant families, it appeared that boys were at a some higher rate than girls in suffering adaptation difficulties.

Fourth, for psychological adaptation of children of inter-ethnic immigrant families, which was recognized by elementary school teachers, it appeared that children in the upper grades suffer adaptation difficulties at a higher rate than children in the lower grades.

Fifth, it appeared that there were significant correlations in all factors between sub-areas of psychological adaptation of children of inter-ethnic immigrant families, which was recognized by elementary teachers.

The present survey has the meaning of study in that it dealt with the issue of psychological adaptation which children of inter-ethnic immigrant families could experience and investigate explaining variables to predict solutions. It is expected that the results of this study will be able to provide basic data for school life adaptation of children of inter-ethnic immigrant families and their growth into healthy Koreans.
