수학체험전의 운영과 발전 방향

Abstract

대부분의 학생들은 수학을 실생활에서 별 필요성도 없는데 가장 많은 시간을 투자해서 학습해야 하는 어렵고 지겨우며 골치 아픈 과목으로 인식하고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 학생들에게 수학 학습의 필요성과 즐거움을 주기 위해서는 실생활에서 얼마나 많은 곳에 수학적 현상이 있으며, 학습을 통해 그러한 것을 알아낼 수 있도록 가르쳐야 할 것이다. 그러한 방법의 하나로써 체험을 통하여 수학을 쉽고 재미있게 풀어 가는 기회를 제공하고, 교과서에 있는 많은 수학적 원리를 학생들로 하여금 직접 체험하며 느낄 수 있도록 하는 수학체험전의 가치는 매우 높다.

따라서, 본 연구는 제주 지역에서 도민들의 수학적 마인드 확산과 수학의 대중화를 위한 목적으로 매년 개최되는 수학체험전의 운영 현황을 살펴보고, 발전 방향에 대해 모색해 보는데 그 목적이 있다.

이러한 목적을 위하여 첫째, 최근 5년간 개최되었던 제주수학체험전의 운영 현황 전반을 살펴보았다. 둘째, 수학체험전에 참여했던 중학교 수학교사들을 대상으로 한 설문을 통해 제주수학체험전의 운영상의 문제점을 알아본 후 앞으로의 발전 방향을 모색해 보았다.

본 연구의 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 제주수학체험전은 관람자들이 다양한 수학 체험 프로그램에 참여하여 직접 만지고, 조작하고 체험하는 활동을 통해 수학의 필요성과 즐거움을 느낄 수 있게 하는 행사로써, 수학적 마인드 확산과 수학의 대중화 확산에 노력해 왔으며, 도민들에게 꾸준한 수학 체험의 기회를 제공한다는데 의의가 있다. 둘째, 수학체험전이 더 발전하기 위해서는 다양한 프로그램을 개발을 위한 수학 교사의 노력이 뒷받침이 되어야 하고, 수학 교사들의 공동 연구와 체험전 자료 보관을 위한 상설 연구 공간의 확보가 필요하다.

Mathematics is supposed to most students as a difficult, boring and disturbing subject , taking a long time while it is useless in real life. I, Math teacher, should let them know there are many mathematical present states they should know and they can get the pleasure of them through math studying. Mathematics Experience Festival, one of these methods, has very important value. It can provide opportunities to experience easy-solving math process and math principal in the textbook to the students.

In accordance with, this study has an object to view the annual Math Experience Festival for diffusion of mathematical mind and popularization of math, thinking about the future for the mathematics.

For this object First, I have checked the general management of the Mathematics Experience Festival for 5 years. Second, I have asked several questions to the math teachers who attended it about the problems they have felt and try to consider the developing directions for the future

I conclude after this study. First, Jeju Math Experience Festival is an event to make participant touch, control, experience various math programs and feel the needs and pleasure of math. It also has the important meaning of providing steady opportunities for mathematical experience, for diffusion of mathematical mind and popularization of mathematics. Second, for the development of Math Experience Festival, math teachers need to make efforts for further various programs and procure the permanent studying place to cooperate among them and store the material for Math Experience Festival.
