제주해녀의 삶을 투영한 도자조형 연구

Abstract

People in Jeju where it has ash soil, strong wind, uncertain weather, and poor agriculture should busily work to live. Accordingly stock-farming provides a maintenance except agriculture but fishing is the main in Jeju whose all directions are the sea. As a result the appearance of woman-divers is natural in this circumstance. Once Jeju woman-divers took possesions of around 50% economy field but they vanished cause of the demand of time and circumstance. This study inquires Jeju woman-divers who took part in serious position of Jeju history and culture, and their activities. In addition Jeju woman-divers' image with the inner sense is formed on the base of oral statements and labor-song. Art works in this study represent woman-divers' life story, mothers who dived their whole life as a job, dreamed inner sence by hidden suffering women, old men who couldn't leave the sea despite of their depressive lives. Landscape with background ,top shells and earshells are brought to express woman-divers' hope and dream. Body is emphasized simply to show inner emotion. Woman-divers' prosperity is memorized by 'Mulsojungee', past time woman divers' uniform. Realizm is shown by 'Tae-wark'. Formative clay was basically used for my art works. Color and Texture of my works are given a change by using pigment and various range temperature firing. Both low temperature firing, 850℃, for soft image of terra-cotta and high temperature firing, 1250℃, for strength and perfection of arts are fired From time to time the maturity of arts is occomplished with sevral times firing. Body is changed from round-style to relievo-style. Representative mutiplicity is tried through painting factor, The dept of art is obtained by pigment and glaze. Through this I remembered Jeju woman-divers' lives and their spirits, knew the present based on past, represanted Jeju woman divers' being and unique by the formative arts. By this research I wish to give a little help to understand the truth of woman- drivers' lives, inner life and their sprits.
