제주상징을 활용한 공사장 가림막 슈퍼그래픽 디자인 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 도시환경을 구성하는 요소 중, 가로환경에 있어서 공사장 가림막의 슈퍼그래픽 이미지 개선에 관한 연구이다. 연구범위는 제주도 지역을 중심으로 한 공사장 가림막의 슈퍼그래픽으로 그 범위를 한정하며 제주 문화상징 99선을 활용하여 공사장 가림막의 슈퍼그래픽에 적용한다. 제주도는 천혜의 자연환경을 가진 세계적인 종합관광지로, 국내 유일의 유네스코 세계자연유산으로 등재되어 그 가치를 세계적으로 인정받고 조명되고 있는 지역이다. 따라서 제주만의 경쟁력을 갖춘 동북아 중심의 국제자유도시로 거듭나기 위해 국제적 수준의 공공 도시 디자인의 환경 개선이 필요한 시점이다. 이에 문헌자료와 국내·외 사례분석을 통해 그 지향점을 찾고 도내 공사장 가림막 슈퍼그래픽의 개선 방향을 제안하였다. 국내·외 공사장 가림막 슈퍼그래픽의 사례 분석 결과, 첫째 공공 시각 환경 측면에서 도시환경을 배려한 친환경적인 디자인과 지역 상징물을 활용한 디자인, 둘째 공공성에 입각한 다양한 미디어의 활용으로 커뮤니케이션 기능을 수행, 셋째 표현방법에 있어 색채, 일러스트, 패턴 등을 적용한 비구상적인 표현으로, 일관되고 체계화된 시스템을 통해 도시경관 개선을 위한 기능을 수행하고 있다. 반면 공공 시각 환경 디자인으로서 제주도 건설현장 공사장 가림막의 슈퍼그래픽 사례 조사 결과 대부분이 가림막에 슈퍼그래픽의 도입과 기획 의도가 없고 조악한 그래픽과 사진 등의 실사적 이미지로만 상징물을 활용하고 있어 차별화된 제주의 이미지를 표상하는 데에는 많이 부족하였다. 또한 가림막이 기업의 광고·홍보 수단으로만 이용되고, 주변 환경과 부합되지 않은 색채의 사용으로 제주환경의 시각공해요소가 되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 도내 공사장 가림막의 슈퍼그래픽 디자인 개발에 있어, 1단계에서 제주문화상징 99선을 중심으로 유형별 분류을 통한 조사 결과 후, 지역별 대표 이미지를 선정하였으며 2단계에서 베이직 디자인으로 선정된 이미지의 상징 심볼 개발과 패턴 요소를 활용한 어플리케이션 디자인 개발로 진행하였다. 본 연구를 통해 제주도 공사장 가림막의 슈퍼그래픽 활용에 대한 디자인의 선행 연구가 제시되고 제주문화상징물의 적극적인 활용을 통해 지역 이미지 향상에 일조할 수 있기를 바란다. 또한 제주 지역만의 특색을 반영할 수 있는 차별화된 표준 디자인으로 동북아 중심지 제주국제자유도시로서 국제적 수준의 도시 경관 조성에 기초 연구를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

This study is on the image improvement of super-graphics of construction site fences for street circumstances which are composed of the elements of the urban environment. The scope of the study is limited to the super-graphics of construction site fences in Jeju and is applied to the super-graphics of construction site fences using 99 kinds of cultural symbols of Jeju. Jeju Island, a comprehensive world-class tourist destination blessed with the natural environment, is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site which is only listed in Korea , and is also an spot that is recognized worldwide. In response, the international level of the composition of the urban environment is a desperate time so that Jeju Free International City may be a competitive hub in Northeast Asia. The research results on the fence case of Jeju construction site as public visual design show that most of the super graphics do not have intention of the introduction, and that they were not good enough to represent the image of Jeju. In addition, they were used as the corporate image or advertising and promotional tool, and the fences were becoming the visual pollution elements due to the designs inconsistent with the surrounding environment. Therefore, this study suggests that through the analysis of domestic and international case studies, the directivity of super-graphics should be looked for and super-graphics should be improved further. Domestic and international case studies state that with an aspect of public visual environment, the fences are performed as the functions of the sustainable design and the local symbols, communication based on publicity, and the improvement of the urban scenery through consistent system with the non- phase expression utilizing colors, illustration, patterns. Based on the domestic and international case studies in developing the province's super-graphic design, the stage are divided into two. The one is to select the regional representatives chosen images out of 99 Jeju`s cultural symbols, and the other is to develop the application designs taking advantage of the icon symbols designated as basic design and pattern elements Through this study, the hope is that the preceding study is proposed and it contributes to the improvement of local image through active application to cultural symbols of Jeju. Also, the study is to provide the basic research for the composition of the urban landscape as Jeju Free International City in the center of Northeast Asia with differentiated standard design to reflect the unique characteristics of Jeju.
