제주지역 관광안내사의 성격특질과 직무태도 관계성 연구

Abstract
Recently leisure time and the desire for cultural life have been increased because the five-day work week has been expanded. The sightseers visiting Jeju have constantly increased. Tourism accounts for more than 60 percent of the gross regional product in Jeju.
Of many employers in tourism services, tourist guides are the backbone of tourism. That's because tourist guide has an important effect on tourist satisfaction and a sound tour culture by having direct contact with tourists in Jeju. However there are difficulties such as poor several benefits condition and a little stable life, etc.
This study attempts to compare and analyze the job attitude and turnover intention of tourist guides according to individual peculiarities and the characteristics of the job. Especially the correlation between the five-factor of personality(extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, opennes to experience) and job satisfaction will be estimated. To measure the job satisfaction and turnover intention to compare it, 113 tourist guides in Jeju are interviewed and analyzed, using T-test, One-Way ANOVA, correlation analysis, Regression Analysis. The job satisfaction consists of 17 questions, including satisfaction of job, wage, the relationship with the superior and the co-workers.
On the results of reliability analysis of job satisfaction questions, the Cronbach's alpha is 0.910 which turns out to be the highly reliable. It is classified into satisfaction of wage, the relationship and a sense of job accomplishment. The older tourist guides are less contented with their job. The correlation of job satisfaction and turnover intention shows inversely similar to other research results. The result of regression analysis showed that conscientiousness is the most important trait which compose the job attitude of tourist guides similar to existing thesis of Song Hyo-boon(2000, 2003). Of other personality traits, openness to experience is related to the job attitude.
These research outcomes could translate into policy action as follows. First, the local government should improve the job environment of tourist guides such as several benefits condition, regular wage and legal tour guide fee, etc. Secondly, to improve the quality and speciality of tourist guides, it's necessary to set higher standards for the their certificate. Incentive programs such as the in-service training abroad and bonus payments through an objective evaluation by tourists, tour companies, and industries around tourism.
