NHK와 KBS의 어린이 뉴스프로그램 비교 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 우리나라와 일본의 어린이 뉴스프로그램에 관하여 비교 분석한 연구이다. 선행연구를 살펴보면 외국의 어린이 뉴스프로그램에서 방송되는 내용을 우리나라 방송사의 어린이 뉴스프로그램과 직접 비교하여 분석한 사례는 찾아볼 수 없었다. 우리나라에서도 한 동안 어린이 뉴스프로그램인『KBS 어린이 뉴스탐험』과『MBC 로그인 싱싱뉴스』가 제작되어 어린이 눈높이에 맞는 다양한 정보를 제공하고 있었으나, 시청률의 한계로 인해 오랜 기간 방송되지 못하고 종영되고 말았다. 현재 우리 어린이들은 일반 뉴스프로그램을 통하여 이 세상에 돌아가는 소식을 전해 듣고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로 연구문제를 첫째, 어린이 뉴스프로그램의 코너는 어떻게 구성되어 있으며, 이야기 진행방식은 어떻게 이루어지고 있는가? 둘째, 어린이 뉴스프로그램에 사용되는 설명보조 도구(수단)에는 어떠한 종류들이 있는가? 셋째, 어린이 뉴스프로그램에 등장하는 인물의 유형과 역할은 무엇인가? 넷째, 어린이 뉴스프로그램에서 다루고 있는 내용주제는 방송사 간에 어떤 차이가 있는가? 로 설정하였다. 연구방법으로는 우리나라의 경우는 KBS 인터넷 홈페이지에서 제공하는 동영상 내용으로 텍스트를 만들었고, 일본의 경우는 NHK에서 방송하는 내용을 현지 녹화하여 번역하였고, 이것을 한글 번역본으로 제작하여 논문을 진행하였다. 한ㆍ일 어린이 뉴스프로그램에 관해 연구한 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한ㆍ일 뉴스프로그램의 코너 구성 및 이야기 진행방식에서 차이가 있었다. 코너 구성을 살펴보면, 일본 뉴스프로그램의 코너는 4～5개로 다양하게 구성되어 있고, 우리나라의 뉴스프로그램은 3개의 코너 구성으로 단조로운 형태를 보이고 있었다. 진행방식에서 일본의 경우는 어린이들의 보내온 엽서 질문내용에 의하여 프로그램이 기획ㆍ제작되고 있었고, 5인 가족으로 구성된 고정 진행자들에 의하여 진행되고 있었다. 우리나라의 경우는 방송ㆍ제작사의 기획의도에 의하여 주제가 선정되고 있었고, 남ㆍ여 아나운서가 고정 진행자에 의하여 진행하는 방식으로 하였다. 둘째, 내용설명 보조도구의 다양성과 사용빈도에 있어서 차이가 있었다. 일본의 뉴스프로그램은 다양한 설명보조 도구들을 진행자가 내용설명에 직접 활용함으로써 어린이들의 이해를 높이고 있었다. 우리의 뉴스프로그램은 설명보조 도구들이 다양하지 않았고, 내용설명에 직접 활용하지 않고 있었으며, 주로 아나운서의 설명을 보완하는 보조 자료로서의 기능을 하고 있었다. 셋째, 등장인물의 유형과 그 역할에서 차이가 있었다. 일본의 뉴스프로그램은 5인 가족구성원들이 역할 분담에 의하여 실제 가족 같은 자연스러운 분위기로 진행되고 있었다. 반면, 우리나라의 뉴스프로그램은 남ㆍ여 아나운서가 진행자하여 진행하는 일반적인 형태로서 방송제작사의 기획의도가 잘 전달되고 있었고, 일반 뉴스와 같은 딱딱한 이미지가 그대로 전달되고 있었다. 넷째, 일본의 뉴스프로그램인 경우는 국내뉴스는 물론 국제적으로 현재 이슈가 되고 있는 주제들도 다루고 있었다. 이에 반해, 우리나라의 뉴스프로그램은 주로 국내뉴스 중 어린이와 관련된 내용이 많았다. 하지만 애국심 고취와 같은 우리나라와 연관된 국제뉴스도 다루고 있었다. 이상에서 한ㆍ일 어린이 뉴스프로그램에 대하여 차이점과 특징들을 살펴보았다. 이를 통하여 우리나라의 어린이 뉴스프로그램에 대한 논의와 개선점에 대하여 생각할 수 있는 기회 마련과 아울러 향후에 우리 어린이들이 이해하기 쉽고 눈높이에 적합한 새로운 어린이 뉴스프로그램 제작이 반드시 필요하다고 보며, 본 연구가 조금이나마 보탬이 되었으면 한다.

This is a comparative study of children's news shows between Korea and Japan. No previous studies have made direct comparison of children's news between Korea and other countries. There have been some children's news shows produced and broadcasted in Korea for a while, such as KBS's Kid's News Expedition and MBC's Log-in Sing Sing News,providing various information angled towards children viewers. However, they all went off the air. Currently, children in Korea are hearing news from news shows for adults. This study is aimed at examining the following. First, how are the segments organized in children's news shows, and how are the news reports presented? Second, what are the kinds of tools that provide extra information of the news to children? Third, what are the types and roles of the casts in the children's news shows? Fourth, what are the differences in news topics in children's news shows between different broadcasting companies? The study method for the Korean programs was to make a transcript of the videos that KBS provides on its website, and for Japanese programs, the actual broadcasted footage of NHK recorded onto a DVD disc was translated into Korean. The following are the key findings. First, there were differences between the two countries in how they organized the segments and how they presented the news reports. On organizing the segments, Japanese programs consisted of various segments, four to five in number, while Korean programs had only three segments, showing a relatively simple format. On how the news reports are presented, Japanese programs were planned and produced based on questions on postcards received by children viewers, and five regular cast members played as a family. In Korean programs, the news topics were selected according to the broadcaster and producer's intent, and the news was presented by a male and a female announcer. Second, there were differences in the variety of the tools provided for the news and frequency of its use. Japanese children's news shows used various tools to provide extra information on the news, and the cast members actually used them on the show to provide better understanding for the children. In Korean children's news shows, the variety of the aids was lacking and the cast did not use it to explain the meaning of the news to the children. The tools only served as background data to support the announcer's report. Third, there were differences in the type and roles of the cast. In Japanese children's news shows, each of the five family member cast have their own roles of making a real family-like ambience that made the news friendlier for children. On the contrary, Korean children's news shows had a format resembling ordinary adult news shows with one male and one female announcer, and the producer's intent was well delivered, and was just as formal as news for adults. Fourth, Japanese children's news shows covered not only the domestic news topics but also global news. However, Korean children's news shows were mainly on domestic news events, especially those relevant to children. There were some international news topics, which was to instill patriotism in children viewers. As stated above, the differences and characteristics of the children's news shows of the two countries were examined. Through this, I hope this study serves as an opportunity to shed a new light on the problems of children's news shows in Korea, and contribute in producing children's news shows adequate for the domestic situation as well as children's point of view.
