Abstract

Since Kongque dong nan fei attracted people's attention years ago, most of the studies on Kongque dong nan fei have been focused on the interpretation of difficult phrases. New research sometimes raise objections to previous research, thus, there is the constant reinterpretation of the same difficult phrases. Searching for the correct interpretation of difficult phrases is the foundation to studying foreign literature. To truly understand the Kongque dong nan fei, the study of difficult phrases in Kongque dong nan fei should continue. In Korea, there are researches on the difficult phrases in Kongque dong nan fei; however most of the interpretations and explanations are similar because concurrent researches affect and influence each other. Furthermore, there are incomplete interpretations due to hard to understand parts and problems connecting plots. This paper examined and compared various existing theses, and interpreted materials of both Korean and Chinese scholars. Difficult phrases are defined as phrases that scholars interpreted differently and phrases that have not been thoroughly researched but can be valuable interpretations from a new point of view. Ten phrases were selected as difficult phrases. These phrases have not been studied in Korea, thus, their interpretations are from a new point of view. The purpose of this thesis is to facilitate the further understanding of the Kongque dong nan fei. It is written in the hopes that further studies beyond the ten phrases included here will be completed on the Kongque dong nan fei.
