세계지질공원 제주도의 지층과 암석에 대한 초등과학 지역화 자료 개발

Abstract

본 연구는 2007 개정교육과정의 초등학교 4학년 2학기 과학교과서의 '지층과 화석' 단원의 학습주제인 지층과 암석을 제주도 특색에 맞게 지역화하여 제주지역 교사와 학생들이 제주도에 있는 지층과 암석에 대해 중요한 학습자원이라는 생각을 인식시켜 제주도가 가지고 있는 자연환경을 아끼고 보존하는 태도를 기를 수 있도록 하였다. '지층과 암석'의 지역화 자료는 제주도에서 지층을 관찰할 수 있는 장소와 퇴적암을 관찰할 수 있는 장소를 중심으로 개발하였다. 그리고 선정된 장소 중 한 곳을 지정하여 실제 체험학습으로 적용 가능한 교수․학습과정안과 학습지를 개발하였다. 개발된 자료는 이 단원에 대한 수업을 준비하는 교사들에게 유용하게 사용될 것이고, 학생들은 학습 자료를 바로 우리 지역에서 찾을 수 있어 학습요소에 대한 구체적이고 확실한 개념을 얻을 수 있으며, 지질분야에 대한 흥미와 이해를 증진시킬 수 있을 것이다. 또한, 체험학습을 통해 자연 친화적 태도를 기르며, 과학적 탐구심과 능력을 개발시키는데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

The aim of this study is to develop local geological materials, especially stratum and sedimentary rock from the 'Stratum and Fossil' unit, as a revision to the 2007 elementary science curriculum. It is to develop experience learning program and worksheets for elementary students by using the local geology. Several locations of Jeju-Do were investigated for the alternative data to the textbook contents related to the stratum and sedimentary rock through field work. By specifying one place in investigated locations, the experience learning program applicable to the actual teaching plans and worksheets were developed. The developed materials will be useful as regional-specific learning items for teachers to prepare 'Stratum and Fossil' unit. Also, students will be able to learn the concepts using the materials related to stratum and sedimentary rock in the nearby regions while gaining interest and curiosity in geology. The experience learning program developed from this study will promote a friendly attitude toward nature and scientific inquiry ability.
