Abstract

This thesis is a translation of the book 「Greater Than Yourself」by Steve Farber. Expand Yourself, Give Yourself, and Replicate Yourself. This book is based on the experience of Steve Farber. He buys a guitar at Vintage Brothers Guitars and finds a handwritten note from the guitar case. And he wants to see people behind the note. The story starts from that point. He first meets Charles Roland and learns GTY(Greater Than Yourself) principles: Expand Yourself, Give Yourself, and Replicate Yourself. To do these, people should give freely of not their knowledge but all their resources: connections, network, experience, insights, advice, counsel and time. Farber shows that the goal of a genius leader is to help others-teammates, employees and colleagues-become more capable, confident and accomplished than they are themselves. Greater Than Yourself is filled with actionable principles, innovative ideas and a wonderful message. I am sure leaders can experience new insights for helping other people.
