한국화의 표현활동을 위한 지도연구

Abstract

현대사회는 급격한 세계화와 정보개방의 물결 속에서 문화의 공유를 통해 상호 이해와 협력의 가능성을 실현하고 있는 반면, 경제 논리를 추구하는 서구중심의 합리주의적 사고가 깊숙이 자리잡게 되었다. 이에 따라 농업, 경제뿐만 아니라 문화마저도 서양문화의 합리성과 효율성을 중시하는 방향으로 치우치게 되면서 우리 전통 문화의 기반이 흔들리게 되었다. 이러한 시대적 상황 속에서 분별력 없이 다른 문화를 받아들기만 해서는 우리 고유의 개성과 멋을 찾기가 힘들며 이는 문화산업의 빈곤으로 나타날 수 있다. 따라서 우리는 전통문화의 중요성을 인식할 필요성이 있으며 이는 먼저 교육환경에서부터 변화가 일어나야 한다. 최근 우리나라 학교 교육 과정에서는 국사 과목을 통해 우리 민족의 유수한 역사를 가르치고 있으나 미술 교육을 보면 미술 시수도 줄어들고 수업의 내용에서도 서양 미술 위주의 교육으로 치우쳐 있어서 한국화의 기초적인 미술 이론 및 실기학습과 지도가 부족한 실정이다. 이를 극복하기 위해서는 적극적인 교육 지도안 탐구와 다양한 실습이 이루어져야 한다. 이에 본 연구는 학생들에게 전통 미술에 대한 관심과 이해를 새롭게 고취시키는 동시에 흥미와 관심을 갖게 하며, 한국화 수업을 통해 다양한 표현기법을 배우고 학생들의 창의적인 표현력 향상을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 한국화의 개념 및 특징에 대해 알아보고, 다양한 장르의 대표적인 한국화 작품을 통해 그 속에 드러난 표현 기법과 특징을 바탕으로 수업지도안을 작성하였다. 이를 토대로 표현활동을 통한 학습지도안을 활용하여 한국화 수업을 하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미술 교육 과정의 수업 시수의 부족과 전공 선생님의 부족 및 미흡한 실기실 환경에서 수업이 진행되기가 어려웠다. 둘째, 한국화를 접하지 못했던 대부분의 학생들은 재료와 용구에서 어려워하였지만 채본을 통하여 부드러운 모필과 먹의 농담을 익힐 수 있었다. 셋째, 크기가 정해진 스케치북만을 사용하던 학생들이 장지와 순지를 원하는 크기로 직접 등분하는 경험을 통해 전통 한지의 질기고 섬세한 특징을 알게 되었다. 넷째, 데생에 익숙한 학생들은 구륵법을 주로 선택하여 표현하였고 바위나 국화잎, 대나무에서는 몰골법의 표현을 하였다. 이와 같은 결과에서 알 수 있듯이 학생들에게 한국화의 전통 재료와 용구를 익히고 표현 방식을 경험하게 한다면 전통 회화에 대한 흥미와 이해를 이끌어 낼 수 있을 것이다. 나아가 전통 예술의 우수성과 정체성을 인지하고 한국의 미를 발견하여 역사와 문화에 대한 폭넓은 이해가 이루어 질 것이다. 또한 각박하고 단절된 사회 속에서 한국화의 정신성을 주장하는 사의적 표현과 다양한 기법의 가능성을 탐색할 수 있는 기회를 부여했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

Contemporary society has established an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation through exchanging cultures within a global community, in midst of rapid globalization and waves of open information. As a result, Western-style rational way of thinking, which only pursues economical logic has penetrated deep in our psyche. With agriculture, economy and even culture are moving toward the direction which values logic and efficiency like Western culture, the foundation of Korea's traditional culture has become weakened. However, merely accepting other cultures without discerning them could lead to poverty of cultural industry and it will become difficult to find Korea's unique individuality and style. We would need to acknowledge the importance Korea's traditional culture in such situation of the era and changes must occur first in educational environment. Middle schools in Korea are teaching Korean's distinguished history with Korean History subject but it is safe to say that when it comes to fine arts, Korea's art education has been centred on the Western art. Basic art theories, practical learning and teaching through Korean paintings are lacking. In order to overcome such a problem, teaching plans should be searched actively and various practical learning should take place. The concept and characteristics of Korean paintings were explored and allowed the students to gain sufficient understanding in various types of Korean painting before approaching Korean painting. Korean painting education can help them understand and learn traditional culture. Also, acquiring Korea's unique individuality and sentiments and acknowledging its excellence allow us to establish Korean's sense of identity in the midst of globalization. First, since art subject is taught relatively less than main subjects, the weight of Korean painting in education is bound to be low at a superficial level. Second, in educational and environmental aspects, relocation time to a practical learning room affected the class. Dark lighting and a lack of work space interfered with drawing for the students. After the classes were over, because of small sinks, the classes were delayed and clean-up was not done smoothly. Third, it was found that current teachers do not have many experiences with expression techniques in Korean painting and students cannot get enough experiences with Korean painting as well. Fourth, there are many students who mistakenly think Korean painting is an uninteresting field behind the times. Considering such issues, a proposal for teaching plan for practical leaning through improved practical learning environment and systematic education on Korean painting was proposed to help them properly understand the value of Korea's traditional culture and art and allow the students to easily approach Korean paintings.
