Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop children's education program in Jeju national museum based on 『Tamnasullyeokdo』 and to expand children's interests and concerns about learning of regional history. 『Tamnasullyeokdo』 is not only an important picture to reproduce a particular space of Jeju in 1702, but it also has a superior value as a picture to illustrate the social and economic situation and the culture of Jeju. In order to use it for educational purpose, we would like to present the development model of education program which can be utilized in the museum by analyzing the contents of 『Tamnasullyeokdo』 and extracting the educational elements.
Jeju national museum is displaying the original of 『Tamnasullyeokdo』 and operating education program utilizing it. However, since the education program utilizing 『Tamnasullyeokdo』 being operated mainly deals with the overall meaning of cultural property, it has one lament for understanding the specific facts included in it. Therefore, in order to eliminate this, a separate specialized museum education program utilizing 『Tamnasullyeokdo』 is needed.
Inthisstudy,targetageislimitedto8-13years old and the development model of customized education program depending on age is presented to develop education program in Jeju national museum utilizing 『Tamnasullyeokdo』. Based on this, three education programs which can be operated in Jeju national museum are developed.
First, 'into the Tamnasullyeokdo, a treasure of Jeju' is the program in a form of appreciating exhibition and it is a self-directed learning which can be linked to 'room of Tamna sullyeokdo'. Learners explore and observe 『Tamnasullyeokdo』 through appreciation and solving problems of activity sheets and they can experience reenactment and imagine the past. Second, 'Tamna sullyeokdo that I meet in the museum' is the program linked to elementary school and it can be associated with chapter related to my town and region in regular curriculum of social studies at 3rd and 4th grades. The contents are constructed in which 『Tamnasullyeokdo』 is reinterpreted through reproduction of real item after learning the activity sheet and the museum can be built in the classroom with further activities. Third, 'we are the squad of Tamnasullyeokdo!" is the voluntary participation program and it is the program developed with reflection of expectation of educational role of non-formal education institution as 5-day class a week has been enforced. The contents are constructed in which theory, experience and exploration by themes of 『Tamnasullyeokdo』 are conducted for 2hours on the 2nd and 4th weeks every month for 3 month sand children can learn the details of history and culture of Jeju.
When education program developed in this study is actually applied to Jeju national museum, the educational effects are as follows: First, it can take the place as a specialized education program in the Jeju national museum. Second, interests and concerns about learning community history can be expanded. Third, children can experience reenactment of various appearance of Jeju in the 18th century and it can promote the historical imagination.
Therefore, this study will bring the effect of motivation to draw the realistic history through concrete theory, experience and exploration of 『Tamnasullyeokdo』. In addition, learning through local cultural property nurtures the pride about the area and education function of museum can contribute to provide the space of history learning which can be linked to public education. Likewise, as children participate in systematic education program in the museum, they can experience various activities to interestingly understand the culture of region and continue the history.
It is expected that development model of education program utilizing 『Tamnasullyeokdo』 presented in this study based on these findings takes the place as a specialized education program in Jeju national museum and it gives the positive effect on history learning to children.
