젊은 연령의 대장암 환자가 더 진행된 병기를 가지는가?
- Abstract
- Purpose: Colorectal cancers in young people are usually found in advanced stage and known as worse prognosis. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics of young patients with colorectal cancer and compared age, sex, tumor location, stage, histologic type and tumor size.
Methods: The total of 189 patients with colorectal cancer underwent surgeries between May 2003 and December 2010. 170 patients were older than 51 years (control group) and the remaining 19 patients were 50 or younger than 50 years. We compared age, sex, tumor location, stage, histologic type and tumor size were retrospectively analyzed.
Results: No significant difference was shown in the comparison of the distribution by age, sex, tumor location, stage and histologic type at the time of diagnosis. The young patients were had large tumor size (young group 6.026±2.4859, older group 4.828±2.3778 p=0.039).
Conclusion: In the comparison of patients with colorectal cancer 50 or younger than 50 years old than older than 50 years old no significant difference was shown except tumor size.
