다문화 교욱에서의 미술 감상 지도에 관한 연구

Abstract

세계화시대로 전환되는 1990년대 중반부터 외국인의 수가 급증하면서 우리나라는 급속히 다문화시대로 변모하였고, 우리 사회 구성원의 언어 및 문화적 배경의 다양화가 진행되어 새로운 환경과 가치 체계가 생성되고 있다. 이러한 사회적 변화로 한국사회는 더 이상 '한민족'의 사회라 지칭하기 힘들게 되었으며 이에 따라 학교 교육으로 하여금 '다문화 교육'을 요구하고 있다. 다양한 민족과 문화의 관점으로 세계를 이해하게 되는 다문화 교육은 여러 문화들을 다양한 관점으로 보게 함으로써 상호존중과 공존을 지향하는 가치관을 갖게 하여 다문화 시대, 다문화 사회 속에서 주체적이고 능동적으로 살아가도록 도울 것이다. 다문화 교육을 실시함에 있어 미술 교육은 효과적이고 중요한 기능을 담당할 수 있다. 이는 미술은 문화의 한 유형이자 문화를 소통하고 전달하는 수단으로 예술적 경험을 통해 문화를 총체적으로 포괄하여 다룰 수 있는 교과이기 때문이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 다문화 미술 감상을 통해 초등학생들이 다양한 문화를 학습함으로써 문화의 차이와 다양성을 깊이 있게 이해하도록 하고, 미술 작품을 사회․문화의 맥락에서 이해하는 감상 능력을 신장시킬 수 있는 지도 방안을 제시하는 데 연구의 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 Ⅱ장에서는 문헌 연구를 통하여 다문화 교육과 다문화 미술 교육에 대한 전반적인 이해를 하였고, 초등학교 미술과 교육과정을 분석함으로써 본 연구에 주는 시사점 및 반영할 점, 개선해야 할 점을 찾았다. Ⅲ장에서는 초등학교 4학년 학생들을 대상으로 하여, 다문화 이해를 돕고 학생의 흥미를 유발할 수 있는 수업 주제를 선정하여 이에 따른 다문화 미술 감상 프로그램을 구안․제시하였다. Ⅳ장에서는 학생들의 수업 소감문, 연구 전․후 설문지 및 소감문 비교․분석을 통해 수업의 효과와 프로그램의 활용 가능성을 알아보고 다문화 미술 감상을 위한 바람직한 지도 방안을 제시하였다. 이상의 다문화 미술 감상 지도에 대한 연구 결과를 종합적으로 평가․분석한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다른 나라의 문화를 학습함으로써 다양한 문화에 대한 이해를 높일 수 있었다. 둘째, 다른 나라의 문화에 대해 긍정적인 방향으로 인식의 변화가 생겼다. 셋째, 다른 나라 문화에 대한 흥미와 관심을 가지게 되었다. 다만 본 연구가 제주도의 초등학교 4학년 학생을 대상으로 한정하여 진행되었으며, 해당 학생들의 학교에 재학하는 다문화 학생을 고려한 프로그램이라는 한계가 있다. 따라서 초등학교 교육현장에서 다문화 미술 감상 교육 및 지도에 활용을 위한 프로그램의 계속적인 연구가 필요하다.

Since the middle of the 1990s that Korea began to enter the age of globalization, Korea has gone thorough a rapid transition into a multicultural society, with the rapid increase in foreigners, and the rapidly diversified language and cultural backgrounds of social members have created a new environment and value system. Due to this social change, Korean society cannot be called 'a 'single-race' society any more and thus 'multi-cultural education' is being required as part of school education. Multicultural education to comprehend the world, from perspectives of various races and cultures implant values to aim at mutual respect and co-existence in students, and will help them live independent and active lives in the multi-cultural society, by making them consider a lot of cultures, from different points of view. Art education is able to play an important role in implementing multicultural education. As a type of culture and a means to communicate with and convey culture, art can cover all the cultures through artistic experiences. Therefore, this study aims to propose a teaching plan to make elementary school students understand cultural differences and diversity deeply, and to improve abilities to appreciate art in a social and cultural context, by appreciating multicultural works of art to learn different cultures. For this purpose, Chapter 2 presents implications, reflections and improvements for this study, by understanding multi-cultural education and multi-cultural art education overall, and analyzing the art curriculum in elementary school. Chapter 3 devises and proposes a multicultural art appreciation program using class topics to help students in the fourth grade of elementary school understand multi-culture and arouse their interest. Chapter 4 identifies the effect of the class and the availability of the devised program, based on comparison and analysis of reviews of students and questionnaires before and after the research, and suggests a teaching plan appropriate for multi-cultural art appreciation. The evaluation and analysis results of the study on multi-cultural art appreciation guidance are as follows. First, students could improve understanding about various cultures, by learning cultures of other countries. Second, their awareness about cultures of other countries changed positively. Third, they became interested in cultures of other countries. This study was limited to fourth-grade students in an elementary school, Jeju Island, and the program was developed in consideration of multi-cultural students going to the school. Therefore, there is a need of conducting a continuous study on development of programs for multicultural art appreciation education and guidance in elementary schools.
