현진건과 체호프 단편소설의 상호텍스트성 연구

Abstract

문학작품들 사이에는 상호텍스트성이 존재한다. 하나의 텍스트는 다른 텍스트 와의 관련 속에서 폭넓은 시야로 바라볼 때 좀 더 심층적으로 이해할 수 있다. 즉 텍스트에 대한 총체적 이해는 상호텍스트성과 불가분의 관계에 있다고 할 수 있다. 이 연구는 현진건과 체호프의 단편소설을 텍스트로 하여 서사구조와 기법, 작 중인물, 주제의 차원에서 상호텍스트성을 밝히는 데 목적을 두었다. 목적을 실현 하기 위해 두 작가의 작품 중 까막잡기 와 키스 , 불 과 자고 싶다 , 운수 좋은 날 과 애수 를 기본 텍스트로 선정하였다. 이 작품들은 다양한 층위에서 상호텍스트적 요소들을 공유하고 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 서사구조의 차원에서는 '과대망상 → 현실 자각'의 플롯, 비극적 아 이러니의 구조, 대립적 이중구조에서 상호텍스트성을 찾을 수 있었다. 작품의 미 학성을 고양시키는 다양한 기법에서도 상호텍스트적 요소가 발견되었다. 작중인 물 차원의 상호텍스트성은 인물의 내면에 존재하는 욕망에서, 주제 차원의 상호 텍스트성은 작중인물의 욕망과 갈등의 통합적 메커니즘 속에서 주로 확인할 수 있었다. 두 작가의 작품들은 주제가 인간과 인생에 대한 보편적인 문제로 확대되 고 있다는 측면에서 의미론적 유사성을 찾을 수 있었다.상호텍스트성은 유사성이나 동일성에만 지배되는 개념이 아니다. 따라서 두 작 가의 작품이 지니는 여러 가지 유사성뿐만 아니라 차이성에서도 상호텍스트적 요소를 찾아보고자 하였다. 그 결과, 시간 구조와 미적 거리의 차이를 기반으로 한 변별적 특징은 두 작가의 단편소설이 지니는 독자적 미학성을 창출하는 요소 로 작용하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 연구는 작품의 개별적 분석 차원을 넘어 상호텍스트적 접근을 통해 현진건 과 체호프 작품에 대한 총체적인 인식을 지향하고자 하였다.

There is intertextuality among literary works. A text can be understood more profoundly when it is looked at in a broad view in its relations to other texts. That is, a total understanding of a text is in an inseparable relation to intertextuality. This study aims to investigate and reveal the intertextuality between Hyun Jin-Geon's and Chekhov's short stories on the dimensions of narrative structure, technique, character in the story and subject. For that purpose, the study chose Blindman's Buff and Kiss , Fire and Sleepy , A Lucky Day and The Lament as basic texts among their works. The study found that those works shared intertextual elements of various level. In the narrative structure level, there was intertextuality in the plot of 'megalomania → realization of reality', structure of a tragic irony, andconfronting dual structure. Elements of intertextuality were also found in various techniques to increase the aesthetics of a work. Intertextuality of the character has been identified in the desire that exists in the inner of the character, and the intertextuality of the subject has been identified in the integrative mechanism in the conflict and desire of the character. The works of the two writers revealed the semantic similarity in terms that the subject was expanded to the universal matter of the human and life. Intertextuality is not a concept that is ruled only by similarity or sameness, which is why the present study tried to find intertextual elements in differences between the works of the two writers as well as similarities between them. As a result, the distinctive features based on differences in the time structure and aesthetic distance worked as elements to create the independent aesthetics of their short stories. The study sought out to have total perceptions of works of Hyun Jin-Geon and Chekhov through an intertextual approach beyond individual analysis of each work.
