安息을 위한 베갯모 디자인 硏究

Abstract

The ways to release stress and to be calm have become diverse and varied in accordance with the rapid growth and change in this society. Regardless of the ages, medicine plants or calmative herbs are easily found from historical literatures or documents. It means that "Rest" were very important part of human life even in the past. Sleep was the best behavior to be calm and relaxed for people in common. For that reason, pillow which is regarded a bridge between the present and the spiritual space was used gently by users. A pillow is regarded a precious goods of wishes for health and longevity, fecundity and evil spirits as well as a bedding. In this study, it suggests the dyeability of Dentropanax which is one of the spontaneous trees in Jeju. Also, it has the purpose to design pillow and pillow ends in the view of modern. I Have three main conclusions from this research study as below. 1. I tried to prove the dyeability of Dentropanax so that a variety of colors were extracted by many experiments. Also, comfortable and soft feeling of color were extracted by the complex dyeing of other materials beyond the color of Korean typical Obangsaek. 2. This modernized pillow end designs were expressed with visual patterns which are felt comfortable in terms of the authentic Jeju calm by using Dentropanax leaves in various ways by adding Ansik Hyang. 3. The pillow ends have a three-dimensional effect combined Korean typical needle technique and Western needle technique(Applique). The patterns are not only sewed strongly and regularly but also curved softly. The art work has unity and stability through simple and regular square arrangement and horizontal side division in the characteristic of patterns. I hope this research study contributes to research and development of designs using natural materials.
