신문지를 활용한 미술 표현 활동 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 초등학교 미술과 표현 영역에서 표현 활동의 다양화를 위하여 신문 지를 활용한 표현 가능성을 탐색하고, 초등학교 2학년 즐거운생활과에서 신문지 를 활용하여 표현 활동이 가능한 차시를 선정하여 재구성하였다. 2009 개정 교 육과정 초등학교 2학년 즐거운생활과를 중심으로 연구한 결과 다음과 같은 결론 을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 신문지는 종이를 활용한 표현 활동 탐구에 적절한 재료이다. 신문지의 재질은 찢기, 말기, 구기기, 엮기, 붙여 표현하기 등 종이를 활용한 표현 탐구에 용이하다. 표현 활동을 하기 전 종이 재료에 대한 탐색을 하는 과정을 통해 재료 에 대한 이해를 할 수 있으며 이를 바탕으로 창의성 있는 표현 활동이 이뤄질 수 있다. 둘째, 신문지를 활용한 활동은 표현 활동의 다양화에 기여할 수 있다. 초등학 교 2학년 즐거운생활과에 제시된 표현 활동의 재료는 일부분에 한정되고 동일 재 료가 반복적으로 제시되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 신문지를 표현 활동의 주 재료 혹은 보조 재료로 사용하여 학습자가 새로운 표현 활동을 다양하게 경험할 수 있는 기회를 제공하였다. 셋째, 학습자는 신문지를 미술 재료로 활용하는 경험을 통해 미술 표현 재료에 대한 시각이 넓어질 수 있다. 교육과정에 제시된 표현 재료인 색종이, 도화지 등 은 미술 표현 활동을 위해 만들어진 재료이다. 하지만 신문지는 정보 전달이라는 목적을 위해 만들어진 매체이다. 표현 활동을 위한 목적이 아닌 다른 목적으로 사용되던 생활 속 물건을 미술 표현 활동의 재료로 활용함으로써 학습자는 표현 재료에 대한 고정관념에서 벗어나 우리 일상생활의 재료도 미술 표현 재료로 둔 갑할 수 있다는 인식을 가질 수 있다. 이러한 경험을 통해 학습자는 표현 재료에 대한 시각을 넓히고 창의성 있는 표현 활동을 전개해 나갈 것이다. 넷째, 신문지는 우리 주변에서 구하기 쉬운 재료이기 때문에 표현 과정에서의 실수나 재료비에 대한 부담 없이 학습자가 재료 탐색 및 표현 활동을 할 수 있다. 또한 신문지의 활용은 환경 교육 측면에서도 매우 긍정적인 효과를 거둘 수 있 다. 다섯째, 2009 개정 교육과정 2학년 즐거운생활과에서 표현 활동을 재구성하 여 신문지를 활용할 수 있으며 교사는 교실 환경, 학습자의 요구에 따라 적절히 수업에 도입할 수 있다. 초등학교에서의 미술 표현 활동은 다양한 재료를 통한 자기 표현의 기회를 제 공하고 창의성을 자극하며 개성을 표현하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 달성하기 위해 서는 기존의 미술 재료에서 벗어나려는 노력이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구는 '신문 지'에 초점을 두어 연구하였으며 앞으로 더 다양한 미술 표현 활동이 되기 위해서 표현 재료에 대해 더 많이 연구하고 보완하여 학습자의 표현 가능성과 창의성을 열어 주어야 할 것이다.

This research explores the possibility of expression using newspapers for diversification of expressive activities within primary school art and expression domain, and select lessons that utilize newspaper to allow expressive activities. By conducting the research based on the second grade pleasant life class which was renewed in 2009, the following conclusions were drawn. First, newspaper is an ideal material for allowing expressive activities using paper. Its characteristics allow various expressions using paper such as tearing, rolling, crumbling, weaving, gluing, etc.Through the process of exploring paper as an artistic medium, the student can develop an understanding of material and fulfill creative activities based on it. Second, expressive activities which utilize newspaper contribute to diversification. Materials used for expressive activities presented in the second grade pleasant life class are limited and same material is suggested repeatedly. This research provides an opportunity for students to experience various expressive activities by using newspaper as the main or supplementary medium. Third, students can broaden their views on materials used for artistic expression through the experience of utilizing newspapers as the medium. Expressive media such as colored papers and drawing papers are specifically created for the purpose of artistic expression. In contrast, newspapers are a social medium created for the purpose of communicating information. By utilizing materials from the environment that were initially used for another purpose for the purpose of artistic expression, students can move past the preconception of artistic medium and develop a new understanding that everything from our environment can be used as an artistic medium. Through these experience, students can broaden their view on artistic medium and continue their creative activities. Forth, newspaper is a type of material that can be easily acquired from our surroundings which means it allows students to explore and express without huge consequences from mistakes or material costs. Furthermore, utilizing newspaper can also create a positive effect in emphasizing environmental awareness and communicating the importance of recycling. Teaching the class by combining environmental education with artistic expression can help reach an integrated educational goal.Fifth, by restructuring expressive activities suggested on pleasant life class educational curriculum for second graders which was renewed on 2009, newspapers were used in various methods and were successfully integrated by the teachers into the classroom learning activities based on the different needs of the students. The goal of art expression activities in primary school is to provide opportunity for self-expression by using various materials in order to encourage creativity and to foster individual expression. In order to achieve this object, there needs to be more effort in trying to go beyond using traditional art materials. Therefore this research focuses primarily on 'newspaper' and there is a need for further research as well as corrections to open the scope of expression and creativity for the learners.
