Alternative Title
An Implementation of Open-source OS-based Omni Channel Ordering Service System
Abstract
With the spread of the internet and smartphones, consumer consumption behavior has changed, and marketing activities are actively taking place to try to leverage on those changes. Despite the fact that many companies are focusing on O2O marketing in a bid to break down the boundaries between online and offline, as of yet restaurants in our country have not been able to provide an omni channel ordering system that crosses mobile, online and offline.
In this paper, an e-menu/POS integrated system is developed which makes the ordering process at a physical restaurant more efficient. Also, a convenient mobile ordering app is developed which can be used by the user to receive various information and news of events online. Currently, when it comes to O2O, the restaurant world is only doing delivery apps. But with this system and the app, this paper seeks a way of providing a more comprehensive, omni channel service.
An open-source OS was used to implement the server for the POS system and e-menu, which had been provided on mobile Web, and a mobile app design was done. That facilitated the synchronization of the mobile POS and e-menu. In addition, an ordering app that allows remote ordering was developed by referencing the most representative ordering service app in terms of O2O services currently in the market. With the resulting e-menu and mobile POS, the entrepreneur could manage the services and contents with ease through the CMS.
Hence, the user (customer) could use ordering services both online and offline. Different commercial ordering service apps were compared and previous research cases were examined in order to check the usefulness of the implemented system, and it was verified that it is more efficient and convenient than other systems not only for the entrepreneurs but for the customers as well.
The implemented system does come with some limitations, however. It is still an early model, and needs more work with regard to supporting more payment methods within the e-menu, and for management partitioning with the CMS. Furthermore, if it were to be commercialized, in order for its effective use, efforts would need to be made to attract restaurants to sign up on this system.
