Abstract
History is a field of study where coincidence and inevitability coexist. A series of thin threads of events in the past resulted in the big pattern what we call the present time that we are living in. We can learn about history through various elements. We can learn annals of a dynasty through documents, and we can learn a style of a time through certain architectures. And, in fact, we can learn more information than we think through tombs. Tombs show values of the times and ways of thinking that people had in the past, as well as the way a person was evaluated after his or her death. The Stories of Old Tombs in Korea is a children's book that tells stories of historical figures in Korea, based on the theme of their tombs. From Oreung that have the foundation myth of the ancient dynasty, Silla, to tombs of generals who tried to protect their countries, tombs of great kings who left enomous achievements, and cemeteries that have so many tragic memories of the modern history of Korea, it tells readers about many scenes of our history and also provides the opportunity for readers to learn more about the old tombs in Korea and the importance of them in a historical value.
