Abstract
In order to ensure the competitiveness of aquaculture of red spotted grouper, Epinephelus akaara through breeding, the seed production of high colorful and growth are necessary. The study examined, selected and raised seeds of rapid growth and excellent color with adult fish (F2), and the hatching rate of fertilized eggs and growth of juvenile fish by production of F3. For four months, E. akaara F2 are maintained under 14L:10D photo- conditions and water temperature of 21 ± 1°C, pH 7.6 ± 0.2, and DO 7.8 ± 0.8 mg/L. A mature E. akaara was selected and injected into the dorsal muscle at a concentration of 16 ml (5IU) HCG/g BW. After HCG treatment, a mature individual whose abdomen is expanded is selected, and the size of a fertilized egg is measured through an egg collecting process and a wet method fertilization process to observe an egg development process. The fertilized eggs had 30 ml, 35 ml, 45 ml, 35 ml, 18 ml per F2 individual, and average size was 438 μm. The hatching rate of fertilized eggs was 94.1% and 95.4% and 92.8% and 93.1% and 87.8% respectively. The rearing environment conditions of hatching larva are maintained in DO 6.5-8.0 mg/L and pH 7.0-8.2. The water temperature is increased by 1°C per day after the fertilized egg is implanted at 20.5 ± 0.1°C and kept at 24.5 ± 0.1°C. The conditions of the circumference of the light are maintained at 24L until 13th after hatching, and adjusted to 12L from 14th after hatching. F3 Juvenile grew to an average of TL 5.0 ± 0.75 cm, BW 1.90 ± 0.79 g on the 78th day after hatching.
