Abstract
Sonata in C Major for Flute and Piano BWV 1033, 신고전주의 작곡가인 보후슬라브 마르티누(Bohuslav Martinu, 1890-1959)의 First
Sonata for Flute and Piano, Sonata for Flute and Piano Op.
Sonata in C Major for Flute and Piano BWV
Sonata for Flute and Piano Op.
This study is a performance practice analysis study of Baroque composerb Johann Sebastian Bach(1685-1750)'s "Sonata in C Major for Flute and Piano BWV 1033", neoclassism composer Bohuslav Martinu(1890-1959)'s "First Sonata for Flute and Piano" and Neo-Romanticism composer Robert Muczynski(1929-2010)'s "Sonata for Flute and Piano Op. 14".The Baroque period refers to around 1600 to 1750, during when the simple chord accompaniment pursued a Monody consisting of a single melody and the Homophony was emphasized. Continued low-pitched tones with prominent melody and bass were also emphasized, and a stile concertato was used to effectively express the contrast of volume or tone Bach, a representative composer of the Baroque period, composed the most orchestral and chamber music during the Köthen period and composed a total of eight flute sonatas. One of them, Sonata in C Major for Flute and Piano BWV 1033 is a representative work composed using the musical characteristics of the Baroque period, such as Thorough bass, Conjunct motion(conjunct succession), Sequence, and contrasting Dynamics. Neo-classicism is a new music theory that emerged in the early 20th century, a trend caused by resistance to late romanticism, and composers of this period newly modernized traditional elements such as sequence and imitation. It prefers restrained music to expressionism, and places importance on the structure and form of music rather than the non-music part. Neoclassical composers not only used a mode other than the major and minor scales, but also used variations of the melody or rhythm of traditional folk songs in their area.
Martinu mainly composed these neoclassical works and also worked on works that highlighted the ethnicity of the Czech Republic. Martinu's First Sonata for Flute and Piano is particularly well illustrated by neoclassical elements such as sequence, subject imitation, conjunct motion, disjunct motion, syncopation etc. Neo-Romanticism is a literary trend that emerged around Germany from thelate 19th century to the early 20th century, and is a style which emphasized human artistic feelings. This was a new trend which combined the traditional and modern music of romanticism, and composers of this period pursued new means of expression by returning and expanding the system of major andminor. So this period was a time of new musical style, using the serialismfor composing without a fixed composition, atonality, ornament and traditionalelements, and vibrato.Muczynski's Sonata for Flute and Piano Op. 14 is a representative work of neo-romanticism, composed of elements such as frequent constipation, harmony of consonance and dissonance, Hemiola rhythm, and Flutter Tonguing. This study selects and investigates the performance pratice ofrepresentative flute sonatas composed with the musical features of Baroque, neo-classicism and neo-Romanticism. This is aimed to help the actual and effective expression of these representative features in real performances
