Abstract

이 글은 고소설 의 이본을 검토하여 계열을 설정하고 이를 근거로 선본(善本)을 규정하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 더불어 선본으로 규정된 텍스트를 분석한 뒤 작품이 지닌 저항과 비판적 주제를 약화시키는 양상에 주목하여 주제의식에 대해 고찰하고자 하였다. 검토 결과, 현재까지 밝혀진 의 이본은 국문필사본 76종, 한문필사본 1종, 경판본 5종, 안성판본 2종, 완판 2종, 국문판각본 5종, 구활자본 18종인것을 확인하였다. 이는 기존의 정리 중 필사본에서 11종, 방각본에서 2점, 구활자본에서 새로운 이본 2종을 포함한 8점이 추가된 결과이며 정확한 출판 지역을확인할 수 없는 국문판각본을 제외하고 밝혀진 이본의 종류는 총104종임을 밝혔다. 다음으로 이본의 계열을 재설정하였다. 이를 위해 공통 화소 및변별 요소의 비교, 고유명사의 비교를 통해 새로운 이본 관계를 설정하였고 이 과정에서 김동욱 89장본을 선본(善本)으로 규정하였다. 새롭게 설정한 이본 계열은 김동욱 89장본 계열을 바탕으로 김동욱 47장본, 박순호 86장본, 정명기 77장본 계열로 분화하였고 김동욱 47장본 계열에서는 경판 23장본 계열, 경판 21장본계열, 경판 24장본 계열로 재차 분화한 것으로 파악했다. 마지막으로 작품의 비판적·저항적 주제가 다양한 원인에 의해 약화되는 양상을 살펴보았다. 우선 사회의 지배 세력이 긍정적으로 묘사되고 차별의 대상이 되는피지배 계층의 모습이 부정적으로 묘사되는 계급별 인물 형상화의 한계성에 주목하였다. 이를 통해 독자에게 특정 계급의 형상을 지속적으로 내면화시키는 차별적 면모를 강조하였다. 다음으로 당시 사회의 주요 관념인 입신양명(立身揚名)의 논리를 살펴보았다. 입신양명에 대한 욕망은 주인공 길동의 개인적 가치 실현과 더불어 부조리한 사회 체제를 용인하게 되는 결과를 초래했다. 그리고 충(忠)·효(孝)의 논리가 길동이 사회적 제약을 넘어서는 환상적 힘을 제약하는 양상을 살펴보며 기존 사회 관념을 수용하는 보수적 면모를 강조하였다. 또한 전통시대 인식의 한계와 이본의 축약 혹은 윤색의 과정으로 인해 욕망의 성취가 절반의 극복으로 드러나는 면모를 확인했다. 이를 통해 이 사회소설을 지향했으나 이를 끝까지 밀고 나가지 못한 채 그 문제가 개인화되었다는 점을 지적했다. |This study aims to set the versions by examining different versions of the classical novel and define the original version based onthis. In addition, it attempted to look into the thematic consciousness by analyzing the text defined as the original version and then paying attention to the aspects that weaken the resistance and critical themes of the work. As a result of the review, different versions of which have been revealed so far were 76 Korean Pilsabon(manuscripts), 1 Chinese Pilsabon(manuscript), 5 Gyeongpanbon, 2 Anseongpanbon, 2 Wanpanbon, 5 Korean Pangakbon(printed from wood blocks), and 18 Guwhaljabon(old printed versions). This is the result of adding new 8 versions, including 11 from the manuscript, 2 from Banggakbon, and 2 from Guwhaljabon among the existing versions. A total of 104 versions of were found, except for the Korean Pangakbon(printed from wood blocks) whose exact publication regions cannot be identified. Next, this study reorganized different versions of . To this end, this study established a relationship of new versions through comparison of common motifs, differences, and proper nouns and defined Kim Dong-wook 89-sheet as the original version in this process. Based on Kim Dong-wook 89-sheet, the newly established versions were found to be gradually divided into Kim Dong-wook 47-sheet, Park Soon-ho 86-sheet, and - 70 - Jeong Myeong-ki 77-sheet. In particular, Kim Dong-wook 47 -sheet was sub-divided into Gyeongpan 23-sheet, Gyeongpan 21-sheet, and Gyeongpan 24-sheet. Lastly, this study examined how the critical and resistant themes of the work were weakened by various causes. First, it paid attention to the limitations of characterization by class, in which the ruling powers of society are portrayed positively whereas the ruled class, a target of discrimination, are portrayed negatively. It could emphasize the discriminatory aspect of continuously internalizing the image of a specific class for the reader. Next, it looked into the logic of the principle of Ipsinyangmyeong(achieve fame and prestige), which was the main ideology of ​the society at the time. The desire for Ipsinyangmyeong led to the realization of the protagonist Gildong's personal values ​and the tolerance for the absurd social system. In addition, this study highlighted the conservative aspect of accepting existing social conceptions by figuring out how the logic of loyalty and filial piety constrained Gildong's fantastic power that could go beyond social constraints. It also found that the desire was achieved by half-overcoming due to the limitations of perception in the traditional era and the process of abbreviation or embellishment of different versions. Accordingly, it pointed out that aimed at a social novel, but it failed to do it to the end and the problem was personalized.
