반려동물 동반여행의 제약요인, 만족도 및 행태에 관한 탐색적 연구

Abstract

With the recent increase in the number of households raising pets, pet owners who regard pets as family members are drawing attention to traveling with their pets. In the tourism field, pet travel is growing into a new market as a trend that cannot be ignored. However, unlike traveling with pets and general travel, there are limitations that can be felt when traveling with pets, and these limitations must be addressed first in order for the market to grow further. Therefore, it is time to study pet travel and actively solve problems that arise from pet travel. The purpose of this study is to understand the constraints, satisfaction, and travel behavior (psychological and behavioral characteristics) of traveling with pet. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with 25 people who had traveled to Jeju with their pets. Based on the implications derived through this, the constraints, satisfaction, and travel behavior (psychological and behavioral characteristics) of traveling with companion animals were examined and suggestions for improvement were presented. The first research question is what are the constraints of traveling with pet. Interviews with respondents mainly included what are the intrapersonal constraints, what are the interpersonal constraints, what are the structural constraints, what are the pets constraints, and whether they want to travel with pets again. The second research question is about the satisfaction level of traveling with pet in Jeju Island. Twenty out of 25 respondents said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their pet trip to Jeju Island. The third research question is what the psychological and behavioral characteristics of pet trip travelers are. According to the respondents' answers, first, traveling with pets is carried out according to structural constraints and pets constraints, whether it is an intrapersonal constraint or a interpersonal constraint. Second, most pet travel with Jeju Island according to the natural environment of Jeju Island. Most of the trips to Jeju Island that cannot be satisfied are due to structural constraints. Third, most of the choices and decisions made by the owner while traveling with the pet are made with the pet in mind. Therefore, in order to develop pet travel in Jeju Island, structural restrictions on travel for pets must be resolved.
