데미안에 나타나는 인간 형성단계와 소나타 구조의 비교

Abstract

헤르만 헤세는 글쓰기를 노래와 연주로 생각할 만큼 문학과 음악에 대한 깊은 관심과 애정이 있었다. 음악에 애정이 있는 만큼 그는 음악적 지식이 많았으며,음악가와 음악 장르에 대한 그만의 확고한 음악적 취향이 있었다. 그의 작품들 대부분에는 음악에 대한 사랑과 감상 혹은 비평을 매혹적인 언어로 표현하여 음악의 아름다움을 글 가운데 잘 나타나 있다. 또한, 음악 형식을 사용하여 문학 작품을 집필하기도 하였다. 헤르만 헤세 만큼 문학과 음악의 접점과 상호 관계를 잘 보여주는 작가는 드물 것이다. 본 논문에서는 헤르만 헤세가 말한 인간 형성 3단계(순수 단계, 죄의 단계, 완성의 단계)와 소나타 형식(제시부, 발전부, 재현부)이 일치한다는 연구 관점을 전제로 하여 진행하였다. 연구를 위해 인간 형성 3단계가 잘 나타난 헤세의 교양 소설 『데미안』과 『모차르트 피아노 소나타 W. A. Mozart Piano Sonata K. 545』를 선정하여 교양소설과 소나타 형식에 대해 연구하며 인간 형성 3단계와 소나타 형식이 어떻게 일치하는 것 인지에 대해 알아보았다. 구조적으로만 맞는 것이 아니라는 것을 확인해 보기 위해서 소설의 내용과 소나타 악보를 대응하여 보여주며 비교하는 연구를 진행했다. 소설의 주인공인 싱클레어가 성장하며 겪는 인간 형성 3단계의 흐름을 보여주는 소설의 내용과 그에 상응하다고 보여지는 소나타의 악보를 제시하며 간단한 분석을 통해 소설과 악보를 함께 보여주며 분석하였다. 그 결과 소설과 음악에서 형식적인 부분과 발전하는 흐름이 유사하다는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 인간 형성 3단계의 순수 단계, 죄의 단계, 완성의 단계를 거쳐 한 사람이 여러 가지 갈등과 방황 그리고 자기 고뇌 가운데 온전한 성인으로 성장하는 과정을 보여주는 것처럼 소나타 형식에서도 주제의 확장과 변화 그리고 전조를 통해 하나의 온전한 곡으로 맺어지는 것을 볼 수 있다. 문학의 언어와 음악의 언어는 다르지만 두 언어가 만나는 지점을 찾아 문학과 음악을 이해하는 방법을 시도하였다|Hermann Hesse had such a deep interest and affection for literature and music that he thought of writing as singing and performing. As much as he had affection, he had a lot of musical knowledge, and he had his own firm taste in musicians and musical genres. Throughout his works, the love, appreciation, or criticism of music were expressed in fascinating language, expressing the beauty of music well in thewriting. He also wrote literary works using a musical form. Few writers will be as good at showing the interaction and interrelationship between literature and music as Hermann Hesse. In this thesis, the paper was conducted on the premise that Hermann Hesse said that the three stages of human formation (pure stage, sin stage, completion stage) and the sonata form (exposition, development, recapitulation)coincide. For the study, Hesse's Bidungsroman "Demian" and "Mozart Piano Sonata W. A. Mozart Piano Sonata K. 545" were selected to study Bidungsroman and sonata forms, and to find out how the three stages of human formation match. In order to confirm that it is not only structurally correct, a study was conducted to show and compare letters and scores correspondingly. The content of the novel, which shows the flow of the three stages of human formation that Sinclair, the main character of the novel, experiences while growing up, and the sonata's score, which seems to correspond, was presented and analyzed through a simple analysis. As a result, it was possible to live that the formal part and the developing flow in novels and music were similar. Just as it shows the process of a person growing into an intact adult in various conflicts, wanderings, and self- aggrandizement through three stages of human formation (pure stage, sin stage, and completion stage), the sonata form can be seen as a complete song through expansion and change of modulation and themes. Although the language of literature and music are different, I tried to understand literature and music by finding the point where the two languages meet.
