셰익스피어의 드라마를 활용한 학습자 활동 중심의 영어수업 방안

Abstract

본 논문은 EFL1) 환경에서 셰익스피어의 드라마를 활용한 학습자 활동 중심의 영어 수업의 필요성을 검증하고 선행 수업 연구 모형의 분석을 통하여 발전된 형태의 구체적인 수업 방안을 제시하려는 데 목적이 있다. 2015 개정 교육과정이 강조하고 있는 수업의 방향성에 근거하면 앞으로의 수 업은 학습자 중심의 의사소통 역량을 키우기 위한 교수학습으로 전환해야 한다. 이러한 흐름에 효과적으로 대처할 수 있는 대안적인 교수법이 드라마를 활용한 영어 수업이다. 드라마는 문학 작품 중에서도 의사소통 역량을 가장 잘 드러내는 장르이며 드라마 기법을 적용한 수업은 학생 참여 중심의 수업을 유도하는 데 효과적인 방법이다. 또한, 드라마는 문학 작품이 줄 수 있는 다양한 의의를 포함 한다. 예를 들어 문학 작품을 통하여 학생들은 목표어 문화권에 대한 이해, 인간 삶에 드러나는 다양한 갈등과 문제들과 관련하여 나의 삶에 대한 반성을 통한 통찰력을 키울 수 있다. 다양한 문학 작품의 장르 중에서도 드라마는 극의 내용 이 인물들의 대화로 진행되기 때문에 목표어를 실제 원어민들이 사용하는 유의 미한 맥락 안에서 습득하게 된다는 장점이 있다. 즉, 목표어의 언어 구조적인 측 면의 학습이 맥락과 실제를 반영할 수 있다는 것이다. 특히 셰익스피어의 드라마 는 EFL의 학습자들에게 대사를 통한 직·간접적인 문화의 이해를 돕고, 인간의 보편적인 삶의 이야기와 주제를 깨닫게 하며 문제 해결 능력의 신장에 기여할 수 있다. 또한, 학습자 중심의 수업 방법들이 첨가될 때, 통합적인 언어 능력의 향상 효과도 기대할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 셰익스피어의 작품을 EFL 상황에서 학습하는 학습자들의 문제 점과 그 한계를 극복하기 위한 보완점을 알아보고, 셰익스피어 교수법의 선행 수 업모형 연구의 분석을 통해 새로운 교수학습 방법을 제안한다. 이 논문이 수업 방법의 다양화에 기여하고, 학생들이 더 넓고 통합된 시각으로 교과 지식을 습득하는 밑거름이 되기를 기대한다. 나아가 미래 사회의 꼭 필요한 인재로 성장하는 데 이 셰익스피어의 드라마를 활용한 영어 수업이 디딤돌이 되 기를 희망한다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the necessity of middle and high school English class using Shakespeare's drama in EFL environment and to present specific class plan of advanced form through case study analysis. Based on the direction of classes emphasized by the 2015 revised curriculum, future classes should shift to teaching and learning in order to develop learner-oriented communication skills. An alternative teaching method that can effectively cope with this trend is English classes using drama. Drama inspires communication ability well among literary works, and it is an effective way to induce students' participation-oriented classes through classes along with drama techniques. Dramas include various meanings that literary works can provide. For example, students will be able to develop a kin insight through reflection on their lives in relation to their understanding of the target culture and the various conflicts and problems that emerge in human life through literary works. Above all, among the various genres of literary works, the advantages of drama are that the content of the play is carried out through the conversation of characters, so the target language is acquired within a meaningful context used by the actual native speakers. In other words, learning in terms of the language structure of the target language can reflect context and practice. Shakespeare's drama, in particular, enables EFL's learners to understand direct and indirect culture through dialogue, and enhances the ultimate problem-solving ability by suggesting the stories and themes of common life. Also, when learner-centered teaching methods are added, the effect improving integrated language skills can be expected. In this paper, I examine the improvement point to overcome the limitations and EFL learning. I propose new teaching methods through the analysis of prior cases of teaching methods on Shakespeare drama. Through this paper, I hope that this teaching method will serve as a small stepping stone for students to contribute to the diversification of teaching methods, acquire teaching knowledge with a broader and more integrated perspective, and further grow into essential talents in future society.
