Abstract

One-person and two-person households have exceeded the majority of the population, andspaces to share various daily activities with people other than family members have becomeimportant.In the future society, such changes in the population structure are expected to play a keyrole in changing the existing community facilities. In other words, community facilities willfunction as places for happy housing residents and local residents to form local communities.Happy housing community facilities are crucial spaces where people can exchange withresidents while conducting various activities that cannot take place in narrow unit dwellings.It is necessary to provide places for groups of people who agree on certain values or seekcertain benefits to gather and gain a sense of belonging.There is little spontaneous motivation to form and vitalize local communities. Besidesphysical installation, continuous operation of spatial programs is essential in communityfacilities. For the vitalization of local communities, a comprehensive and systematic approachmust be taken to operate and manage the physical environment and programs accounting forthe characteristics of residents. Considering the fact that such facilitiesare mainly operated with public support, it would be important to discover and associatewith relevant projects of the central government and local governments.If community space is not utilized and operated adequately, the expenses for spatial andprogram operations are wasted.Based on the concept of locality, community space is maintained when communities areformed by the psychological solidarity of the social group through internal interactions andwhen the communities have properties of organic bodies.Therefore, this study investigates and analyzes the actual conditions of happy housingcommunity facilities and the preferences (needs) of residents (users). Community facilities areanalyzed and materialized architecturally to apply the 'minimum community facility system' toconfigure facilities highly demanded by residents besides legally required facilities andconsider management of space programming. This study proposes a plan for happy housingfacilities to recover the sense of community of facilities and revitalize local communities asthe welfare strongholds.The results derived in this study can be used as basic guidelines for planning happy housingcommunity facilities in the future.
