A study on effects of fitness with LMX and followership on the effectiveness of leadership
Abstract
This paper is to verify the assumptions and study model for
new discovery. For this purpose the existing products were criticized
through referring to the preceeding literature on LMX and followership.
The study model and assumption consists of 3 dimensions; ⑴ the
quality of LMX and the efficiency of leadership(absorption of
organization, duty motivation, empowerment), ⑵ according to the types
of followership, the difference in the efficiency of leadership and ⑶ the
difference between the idealist followership and high quality of LMX.
The products through the verification of the study model and
assumptions are as follows;
Firstly, The quality of LMX has a positive effect on
absorption of organization, duty motivation and empowerment. That is,
the more deeply the subordinates feel about the quality of LMX, the
more attached they become to their organizations. Besides, they make
more efforts to accomplish their duty, they are more confident about
his own duty, and they give more meaning to their own duty.
Secondly, According to the 3 types of followers(model, average,
passive), there is difference in the efficiency of leadership(absorption of
organization, duty motivation, empowerment). That is, the model
followers show the highest perception of the absorption of organization,
duty motivation and the empowerment, compared to the other types.
This means that they are making great efforts to improve their own
duty motivation and empowerment.
Thirdly, The subordinates, who recognize the quality of LMX
highly and think of themselves as the model followers, recognize the
efficiency of leadership higher than those who recognize the quality of
LMX and think of themselves as average followers. The formation of
relationship between model followers and high quality is expected to
improve the factors of the increase of the efficiency of leadership. It
can be safely said that it is the idealist combination of LMX and the
types of followers.
The suggestions of this study are as follows; Firstly, the study
of followership verified its efficiency under the theoretical frame.
Secondly, there are few studies in the domestic area with regard to
the study of the efficiency between LMX and the types of followers.
Thirdly, this study provides the various variations(absorption of
organization, duty motivation and empowerment) of the efficiency of
leadership. Lastly, this study tries to give importance to the quality of
LMX as the preceeding factors on the psychological variations. In
conclusion, this study suggests that LMX is the most important
variation in the style of leadership
